- +

SeedSigner+ is a build-it-yourself Bitcoin signing case and electronics kit with a larger 2.8-inch IPS display, improved QR camera, enhanced physical controls, a microSD extension cable, and a durable anodized metal enclosure. It keeps the open-source SeedSigner model that matters: your Bitcoin keys stay offline, transaction data moves by QR code, and sensitive seed material disappears from working memory when the device powers down. You must supply your own compatible Raspberry Pi Zero with its GPIO header already soldered and your own microSD card. The microSD extension cable is included; the Pi and storage card are not.

Case and electronics package—bring your own Pi and microSD

Every $150 SeedSigner+ option on this page includes the metal case, display/control hardware, camera, microSD extension cable, and connection parts. We do not sell a case-only option on this listing. You must supply a compatible Raspberry Pi Zero with its GPIO header already soldered plus a compatible microSD card. The Pi and microSD card are not included. Choose Black, Red, Orange, or Gold—the price is the same.

Assembly is required. Building it yourself lets you inspect the parts and understand what is inside your Bitcoin signing device.

What is included with SeedSigner+?

Metal enclosure

A two-piece anodized metal case with matching faceplate and physical buttons in Black, Red, Orange, or Gold.

2.8-inch IPS display

The larger display/control PCB and hat provide more viewing area for transaction review and QR presentation.

Connection hardware

The display/control assembly, microSD extension cable, ribbon parts, connection hardware, and fasteners are included.

Improved QR camera

The camera hardware needed to scan animated transaction QR codes is included.

Bring your own soldered Pi Zero and microSD card

To complete the build, supply a compatible Raspberry Pi Zero with a standard 2×20 40-pin male GPIO header already soldered on, plus a compatible microSD card for the SeedSigner software image. CryptoCloaks intentionally does not supply either component. The microSD extension cable is included with this kit for easier card access after assembly. You choose the provenance of the compute board and boot media, obtain the official SeedSigner release, and verify and write that software yourself.

SeedSigner accepts the Zero W/WH, but the non-wireless v1.3 provides the strongest assurance of network isolation. Confirm board, soldered-header, and microSD requirements against the current SeedSigner+ and SeedSigner instructions before ordering.

Why SeedSigner+?

SeedSigner was created to make verifiably air-gapped Bitcoin signing accessible with open-source software and publicly available hardware. SeedSigner+ keeps that security model and improves the parts you interact with every time you sign.

  • Larger 2.8-inch IPS screen: more room to inspect transaction details and display animated QR codes.
  • Improved camera: quicker, more dependable scanning of animated transaction QR codes.
  • Better controls: dedicated physical buttons and improved ergonomics make navigation easier.
  • Metal case: a rigid, premium enclosure protects the internal boards while keeping the device compact.
  • Same air-gapped model: wallet data enters and leaves through visible QR codes rather than a USB data connection to your wallet app. Use the preferred non-wireless Pi Zero v1.3 for a build with no WiFi or Bluetooth radios.
  • Same stateless model: the device does not need to retain your seed phrase after you power it off.

How air-gapped QR signing works

  1. Create or recover a seed for the session. SeedSigner supports SeedQR entry and trust-minimized entropy workflows such as dice rolls or image entropy.
  2. Build the unsigned transaction in compatible wallet software. Your computer or phone displays the transaction as animated QR codes.
  3. Scan with SeedSigner+. The built-in camera reads the QR sequence without networking the signing device.
  4. Review on the SeedSigner+ display. Confirm outputs, amounts, and transaction details on the signing device itself.
  5. Sign offline. SeedSigner+ uses the session’s private key material to create the cryptographic signature.
  6. Return the signed transaction by QR. Your wallet software scans the signed QR sequence and broadcasts from the online device.
  7. Power down. Stateless operation clears the seed from working memory; your durable backup remains your responsibility.

Important: Air-gapped does not eliminate the need for careful verification. Download SeedSigner software from the official project, verify releases when possible, inspect addresses and amounts on the SeedSigner+ screen, and maintain a separate durable backup of your seed phrase.

Open-source Bitcoin signing features

SeedSigner software supports the core workflows serious Bitcoin self-custody users expect:

  • BIP39 12- and 24-word seed workflows
  • Dice-roll and image-based entropy generation
  • SeedQR creation and scanning
  • Animated QR transaction parsing and signing
  • XPUB export by QR code
  • Native SegWit single-signature and multisignature workflows
  • BIP85 child seed derivation
  • User-configurable QR density and brightness
  • Compatibility with established Bitcoin wallet coordinators such as Sparrow Wallet, Specter Desktop, Nunchuk, BlueWallet, Keeper, and Bull Bitcoin where currently supported

Wallet compatibility and SeedSigner software features can change by release. Check current official SeedSigner documentation before relying on a specific coordinator or advanced feature.

Assembly and first-use checklist

  1. Inventory the included case, display/control board, camera, microSD extension cable, ribbon parts, connection hardware, and fasteners.
  2. Obtain a compatible Raspberry Pi Zero separately. It must have a 2×20 40-pin male GPIO header already soldered. For strongest network isolation, use the non-wireless Raspberry Pi Zero v1.3 preferred by official SeedSigner guidance.
  3. Obtain your own compatible microSD card. The extension cable is included, but no storage card is supplied.
  4. Follow the SeedSigner+ assembly order carefully and avoid forcing ribbon cables or board connectors.
  5. Obtain the latest official SeedSigner release from the SeedSigner project.
  6. Verify the download using the project’s published verification instructions whenever possible.
  7. Write the image to the appropriate microSD media and boot the device.
  8. Test the display, controls, and camera before moving meaningful Bitcoin.
  9. Run a small practice transaction and confirm the complete QR round trip.

Who is SeedSigner+ for?

  • Bitcoiners who want transparent hardware: you assemble and inspect the device rather than trusting a sealed black box.
  • Multisig users: SeedSigner was designed to reduce the cost and complexity of air-gapped multisignature signing.
  • QR-first self-custody users: no cabled transaction data path is needed between the signer and wallet coordinator.
  • Builders who want a premium enclosure: the upgraded screen, camera, controls, and metal case improve daily usability without abandoning the open-source model.
  • Users who value stateless signing: seed material can be reconstructed for a session and cleared on shutdown rather than permanently stored on the device.

Back up the seed—not the signer

SeedSigner+ is intentionally stateless. If you lose the device, your seed backup is what preserves access to your Bitcoin. Store a verified backup offline and separate from the signer. For a durable stainless-steel option, pair it with the Seedor Safe Starter Set or the Seedor Safe Starter Set Plus.

SeedSigner+ FAQ

What is SeedSigner+?

SeedSigner+ is an upgraded hardware package for the open-source SeedSigner Bitcoin signing model. It adds a larger 2.8-inch IPS display, improved QR camera, enhanced controls, and an anodized metal enclosure.

Is the Raspberry Pi Zero board included?

No. This package includes the metal case, display/control PCB and hat, camera, microSD extension cable, ribbon parts, connection hardware, and fasteners. You must supply a compatible Raspberry Pi Zero with a 2×20 40-pin male GPIO header already soldered. The non-wireless v1.3 is preferred for strongest network isolation.

Is the microSD extension cable included?

Yes. The microSD extension cable is included for easier card access after assembly. Bring your own compatible microSD card and verify and write the current official SeedSigner software image yourself; no storage card is supplied.

Does every SeedSigner+ color cost $150?

Yes. Black, Red, Orange, and Gold are each $150. Color does not change the included electronics or price, and every color requires a separately purchased soldered Raspberry Pi Zero and microSD card.

Can I buy only the metal case?

Not from this listing. Every option includes the metal case plus the display/control, camera, ribbon, and connection hardware. The soldered Raspberry Pi Zero and microSD card are required separately.

Is SeedSigner+ air-gapped?

Yes, when built with the preferred non-wireless Raspberry Pi Zero v1.3. The SeedSigner security model exchanges transaction data through QR codes rather than networking the signer to your computer or phone.

Does SeedSigner+ store my seed phrase?

SeedSigner is stateless. Seed material is held for the active session and cleared from working memory when the device powers down. Your separate seed backup remains essential.

Does SeedSigner+ have WiFi or Bluetooth?

The CryptoCloaks package does not include a Pi board. Use the non-wireless Raspberry Pi Zero v1.3 preferred by SeedSigner for the strongest radio-free build. Wireless-capable Pi models physically contain radios and require additional risk consideration even if SeedSigner software does not use networking for transaction signing.

Is assembly required?

Yes. The package arrives as components, and you must add your own compatible Raspberry Pi Zero with a 2×20 40-pin male GPIO header already soldered plus your own compatible microSD card.

Does the kit come with SeedSigner software installed?

No software or boot media is supplied. Obtain and verify the latest official SeedSigner release yourself, then write it to your own compatible microSD card. That is the safest way to know exactly which software image is running on your signing device.

How does SeedSigner+ sign Bitcoin transactions?

Your online wallet displays an unsigned transaction as animated QR codes. SeedSigner+ scans, displays, and signs the transaction offline, then shows signed QR codes for your online wallet to scan and broadcast.

Can SeedSigner+ be used for multisig?

Yes. Multisignature accessibility is a core SeedSigner use case, including XPUB exchange and transaction signing by QR code.

Which wallets work with SeedSigner+?

SeedSigner has supported wallet coordinators including Sparrow Wallet, Specter Desktop, Nunchuk, BlueWallet, Keeper, and Bull Bitcoin. Confirm current compatibility in official SeedSigner documentation before setup.

Can SeedSigner+ generate a new seed?

Yes. SeedSigner supports trust-minimized seed creation workflows including dice-roll entropy and image entropy, plus BIP39 and SeedQR tools.

What happens if the SeedSigner+ is lost or damaged?

The device is replaceable; your seed backup is not. Restore from a verified seed backup on another compatible signer. Never rely on the stateless device as your only backup.

Is SeedSigner+ an official endorsement from the SeedSigner project?

SeedSigner+ uses the open-source SeedSigner software and security model in an upgraded hardware form factor. This listing does not claim endorsement by or affiliation with the SeedSigner project.
